Robert “Bob” Aptaker is an accomplished real estate professional with 35 years of experience developing and repositioning assets. He is experienced in all aspects of development including conceptualization, feasibility, entitlements, design, financial analysis, and construction. As VP of Development for Macerich (MAC), Bob quarterbacked development projects valued at over $1 billion, including the redevelopment of Santa Monica Place (winner of numerous design and development awards including ICSC VIVA “best of best,” ULI and MAPIC), Los Cerritos Center, and Dallas’ iconic Northpark Mall. His development projects span nine States including California, Oregon, Texas, New York, Illinois, Iowa, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Bob’s role at Macerich also included the founding and oversight of the company’s environmental affairs department which was responsible for environmental testing, remediation and database management across the entire portfolio. Additionally, Bob was an active member of Macerich’s acquisitions team, responsible for spearheading due diligence efforts for more than 100 acquired assets. Most recently, Bob served as VP of Development for Seritage (SRG) where he oversaw development of properties in California and Oregon. Bob has a BA in Business Administration from Principia College, and completed a two-year Hazardous Materials Management program at UC Santa Barbara. He is an ICSC member, ULI participant, REAP (Real Estate Associate Program) speaker and is involved in Big Brothers.
